Pentre House is a 19th Century
(circa 1867), mainly Granite built, property commanding an elevated position
just a few minutes walk from both the beach and the village & harbour.
The house enjoys uninterrupted views of the
Atlantic coastline from the Lizard to the east and to the west across Mounts Bay to
Newlyn, Mousehole & beyond.
Pentre House was built for the local schoolmaster and is next door
to the Old School. It was acquired by a local Doctor and used as a
doctors' home and surgery from the 20's through the 60's. Latterly it had been used as
a Bed & Breakfast establishment.
The house
was in need of considerable
modernisation and we embarked on this programme of activity throughout
2002/3 with a view to being ready for the
2004 summer season. However the time-scale proved far too challenging and, due to our other commitments, we were unable to
complete the major works until the end of 2005. We still have some internal work to complete and, with our personal desire to take some well earned
rest, we have decided not to offer a Bed & Breakfast accommodation service
at this time. This may change in the future if Government restrictions and other
financial implications allow.
The
unavailability of Pentre House does not affect Pentre Cottage which is ready and available!
