Don’t pay over the odds!
And don't lock yourself in!
I can obtain your Domain name on your behalf from as little as
£5.90¹
for two years renewable at
£5.90 for every subsequent two years. I do not make a profit on Domain
Name
acquisition!
Unlike some other
Domain administrators, I do not wrap up the provision of Domain
Names with other (often binding) services, nor do I maintain
"ownership" of the Domain or charge an annual maintenance fee for doing nothing (or very little).
My
clients own their Domain Name and retain full rights to it and its management.
This is important!
Why?
This
saves my clients from the future potential pitfalls
in transferring Domain Names from one holding/registration
company to another. For example, users often
obtain their Domain Names (sometimes for free) from Internet/Website
Hosting companies by wrapping them up with other
services, and it can be a costly struggle to get
ownership of the Domain Name back when they wish to
switch suppliers. Some have even plumped for a
new Domain Name rather than wait the requisite
transfer period and pay the usually expensive
release fee; even also bearing the cost of changing
all their stationery.
In
my opinion Domain Names should always be kept
completely separate from other services. One
doesn't obtain a Company Name with other locked-in
services, so why treat Domain Names any differently!
Domain Names should not be tied to other services nor “owned” by anyone other than the person/organisation that ultimately paid for
it!³
Depending
on the website hosting service I often recommend
that a domain name is registered specifically for
housing the website(s) and other access domains are
used to link to the hosting domain. In this
way the domains are separated giving the user
greater freedom to choose a hosting or domain
supplier. After all, this freedom doesn't cost
very much!
I
charge only a one-off set-up and administration fee (to include
initial Nominet²
administration). There's no catch!
There's nothing more to pay (except the periodic renewal
cost) unless you require further maintenance services
that I would quote for on a time and materials rate.
I don’t see why my clients should pay me for anything other than the work I do!
I also think that once
configured my clients can manage their own Domain
Names and make any changes they wish. I’ll even show you how. It’s not a mystery!
Remember you own the Domain, not I!
What you get:
Your
Domain Name - if available
Your
own management service at the Domain Name
registration company
Website redirection with URL masking
- Sub-domain
redirection with URL masking
50 Email Addresses with individual redirection
A catch-all email address with redirection (or none)
(And
don't forget that you should change your email
client (e.g. Outlook) to reflect your new email
address. So many do not!)
Why not contact me for a quotation before you
look elsewhere!
Legend
& small print bits!
- ¹Prices
shown are for a "uk" Domain and
are accurate at time of publication.
- ²Nominet
is the Internet Registry for
".uk"
Domain Names.
- ³The
Domain Name registration service I use is a
member of Nominet. It does provide other
Internet/Hosting services but these are not a
pre-requisite for the registration of a Domain
Name and are therefore not associated.
The company may charge
a release fee for a Domain Name (as they
provide the Domain service on their servers) but
this should not be required as
there is no other lock-in service.
