Immediate Ancestors of Alfred Charles Hill

1. Alfred Charles Hill was the youngest issue of Claude Absalom Hill and Emily Grace Brown (née Coe) and was born on February 9th 1915 at Fulham and died on September 14th 1992 at West Middlesex Hospital aged 77.

2. Claude Absalom Hill was the only issue of William Thomas Hill (Widower) and Mary Ann Absalom  (née Cowper) (Widow) and was born in 1885 at St Savior, Southwark and died on January 2nd 1968 at West Middlesex Hospital aged 83. Claude married Emily Grace Brown (née Coe) on 20th July 1912 at Fulham.
Known children from this marriage were: William Claude, Walter Robert, Sidney, Blanche & Alfred Charles.
Claude next married Mary Jane (Cissy) Maundrell (1892 Fulham - 1988 Hounslow).

3. Emily Grace Coe, the daughter of Alfred Coe (1846 Newmaket -1890 Marylebone) & Anna Elizabeth Copsey (1850 Horringer, Suffolk), was born in 1875 at Market Harborough and died in 1930 at Fulham at age 55.

Emily first married George Brown (1875 Fulham - 1903 London) during 1896 at St Pancras. Known children from this marriage were: George, John, Arthur, & Emily Silena.
Emily second married Claude Absalom Hill on 20th July 1912 at Fulham. Known children from this marriage were: William Claude, Walter Robert, Sidney, Blanche & Alfred Charles. >

4. William Thomas Hill, the son of William Thomas Hill (1816-1874, Middlesex) and Harriott Dolphin (1811-1844, St. Marylebone), was born in 1843 at Bethnel Green, London and died in 1936 at Plumstead.

William first married Elizabeth Isabella Frances Curtis (1846 Lambeth -1882) daughter of Henry Curtis (1808-1895 Westminster) and Elizabeth Bennett (1817 Southwark - 1885), on 18th December 1864 at Lambeth, Surrey.
Known children from this marriage were: William, George, Archibald, Frederick, & Amelia. 

William second married Mary Ann Absalom (née Cowper) on August 12th 1883 at the Parish Church, Kennington.
The child from this marriage was: Claude Absalom.

Note: The HILL family hails from Rugeley Staffordshire and the ancestry has been traced back to 1700.

5. Mary Ann Cowper
was the daughter of John Cowper (1817-1861, Wellingborough) and Maria Beeby (1816 Wellingborough) and was born in 1843 at Wellingborough, Northamptonshire and died in 1920 at Woolwich.

Mary first married George Alfred Absalom(1834-1881 Shoreditch), son of James Absalom (1792-1860, Lambeth) and Catherine Manton (1800 Islington).
Known children from this marriage were: George Alfred, Lillian Catherine, Arthur Edward, Jessie Gertrude, Earnest Charles, William Henry, Sidney Herbert & Albert Stanley.
Mary next married William Thomas Hill on August 12th 1883 at the Parish Church, Kennington.
The child from this marriage was: Claude Absalom.

Note:The COWPER families from Wellingborough are very well researched and the ancestry has been traced back to the 16th Century.  They were steeped in the tradition of boot & shoe making (John COWPER was a Clicker) and are a mix of prominent people who traveled widely during the 19th Century (see Cowper Forum).

6. Alfred Coe the son of John Coe (1821-1856 Newmaket) and Elizabeth Dover (1820 Fordham, Cambridgeshire) was born in 1846 at Cheveley, Newmarket and died in 1890 at Marylebone.

Alfred married Anna Eizabeth Copsey (1850 Horringer, Suffolk) daughter of Henry Copsey (1828 Horningsheath, Suffolk - 1876 Camden) and Hannah Root (1830 Horningsheath, Suffolk - 1863), on 12th May 1869 at Newmarket St Mary, Suffolk. 
Known children from this marriage were: John, Robert, Emily Grace, Blanch, Clara, Alfred, Elizabeth, Charles, Henry & Susannah.

Note:The COE family hails from the Suffolk side of Newmarket and the ancestry has been traced back to 1750. 

7. Anna Eizabeth Copsey
the daughter of Henry Copsey (1828 Horningsheath, Suffolk - 1876 Camden) and Hannah Root (1830 Horningsheath, Suffolk - 1863) was born in 1850 at Horringer, Suffolk

Anna married Alfred Coe on on 12th May 1869 at Newmarket St Mary, Suffolk.
Known children from this marriage were: John, Robert, Emily Grace, Blanch, Clara, Alfred, Elizabeth, Charles, Henry & Susannah.
